I have been inspired by horses since I can remember, however, it was much later in my life that I had the honor of learning authentic connection from horses.  They have been my most important teachers that would continue to guide me for 25 years.  I am passionate about sharing this organic process with others. Each interaction between horses and humans is improvisational and real in the present moment.  While each interaction is new in and of itself, the skill, awareness, and experience of being in a horse’s presence is healing and sustainable and translates into our human partnerships.

The restorative potential of combining somatic psychology and the relational dynamic of equine assisted learning to foster resilience and greater well-being for people is very inspiring to me. I feel we each have an innate capacity for healing and wholeness.

I have been curious and interested in growth and learning my whole life. My background in Trauma Integration, Somatic Psychology, Meditation, and Equine Assisted Therapy and Coaching informs my private therapy and coaching practice in Austin. For the last two decades I have worked with individuals, couples and groups providing workshops and trainings.  I also am co-founder of Equine Assisted Learning Center and Program Director and Facilitator for nonprofit, Horselink.

I am certified in Equine Assisted Learning and Therapy through Eponaquest and have worked with horses therapeutically for 15 years. Horses are equal partners in all sessions and workshops.

I feel that horses’ wellbeing is important and love supporting their optimal aliveness through working with Equine Integrated Bodywork, Cranial Sacral, Equine Touch Massage and Energy Work.

I am awed by the healing presence of horses and have come to trust the gentle wisdom that they so willingly share. They truly teach the art of compassionate communication and cooperation with an open heart. As a volunteer at Wild Mustang Rescue Center in Red Rock Texas, I had the opportunity to see how the natural instincts of horses provide powerful learning and healing experiences.

Through Equine Assisted Learning, I witness over and over that each of us carries within us the innate wisdom to create and experience our own unique and fulfilling life.  I feel privileged to team up with horses, nature, and humans to facilitate the experience of authenticity, mutual respect and healing.

Horses have been my most important teachers. I feel horses are majestic beings that can ground us in the depths of our spiritual essence and teach us how to find our way back to what is authentic and true within our own lives and in community with others.

In the midst of the workshop, Dylan, the elder of the herd, began his Journey home. His owner was not able to be there and I had the honor of being with him several hours. As I sat with him, everything around seemed to stop and I was totally aware of our presence together. Dylan moving inward, would raise his head and look into my eyes for a few moments from time to time.  After several hours, he peacefully made his transition. This process felt particularly poignant for me as I had just lost my dear horse, Persia, last year. Somehow being able to sit with Dylan in these last moments was very healing for me.

The next day of the workshop we were asked to pick a horse to work with.  I stepped into the 20-acre pasture having no idea which of the dozens of horses to pick.  As I was standing wondering, a horse looked up and walked to the center where I was standing. Huey, a rescue horse, made the choice very clear. We stayed together for several hours in silent exchange with each other.  I could feel an overwhelming sense of connection and heartful presence. it was clear that something was transpiring because before too long there were several horses gathered with us.

In reflecting, I was not even conscious how much the experience the day before had deeply opened my heart. And, I realized that Huey and Dylan both remarkably had the same chestnut coloring and same white long blaze down the front of their head as Persia.

When I walked away that day, I could feel a sense of peace around Persia’s passing. I am deeply touched and full of gratitude for the healing and transformative experience. The feeling stays with me as an affirmation of our essential connectedness and possibility for healing heart to heart.

Lynne’s pacing, experience and sensitivities allowed for a rich and deep experience for me. It was a great pleasure and privilege to share these experiences with both horse and people. I will carry the experience into my daily life and practice.

This was an awesome event! It was especially helpful to learn how to stay present with myself and in relationship with others. I also liked all the material in the notebook which will be a good resource to help me remember.
